Tulabi Falls in Nopiming Provincial Park is one of my favorite places to visit in Manitoba. The water flows through a narrow channel from Tulabi Lake, finally plunging into Bird Lake below. After seeing this view throughout the day, I decided that this was the scene I wanted to capture, with the glowing trees and the evening light sweeping across the bay.
My brother and I have gone on several canoe trips together, using the cedar strip canoe that he built with our dad. On this particular trip to Nopiming Provincial Park, he dropped me off on a small island and paddled into a small bay. I saw some movement near the shore, and as he glided closer, a slightly startled moose appeared from a patch of reeds and started making its way out of the water and into the trees.
